Portrait Secrets is a place where where portraiture & storytelling live happily ever after.
Have you ever been curious about the subject of a vintage photo or piece of artwork? We need your help giving new life to lost souls found at estate sales, flea markets and antique shops.
All you need to participate is a love of discarded things and a sense of curiosity (you definitely don't have to be a "writer"). Let your creativity be your guide. Our Portrait Secrets have taken many forms, including correspondence, poetry, journal entries, obituaries and good, old-fashioned prose.
There are three ways to participate in our story-telling project:
- Find a subject that speaks to you in our Gallery of Untold Stories and write something for us to share.
- If you already have an image that has sparked your creativity, we're happy to post in our Gallery of Stories Told.
- Share an image that captured your fancy and we'll post it in hopes of finding a storyteller.
In gratitude for participating, we'll gladly link to your projects and provide a vintage photo (the story's subject, where feasible) as a memento.
Cheers!
Amy
